Steve Jobs Was Wrong
Steve Jobs’ description of Android as ‘stolen’ is unfair, but his anger that Google developed its own mobile OS knew no bounds, says Wayne Rash

Locked down bootloader? Blame your carrier
For many Android fans, tinkering around with devices is one of the most fun advantages of the platform (rooting, ROMs, etc.). This is why locked bootloaders have always been a problem for true believers of Android’s open ecosystem. Even after many months of debate, this problem is still very prominent. But whose fault is this? Many tend to blame the manufacturers; they take a lot of heat from consumers. We must remember that they’re not the only ones making decisions, though. The carriers play a big role in locking these devices. Verizon is one of the biggest advocates of such practices.

Mobile Phones Should Be Mobile
Dear Android Phone Manufacturers,
If you want to impress android phone users: Get off the "our phone is the thinnest" kick, make the phone a little bit thicker and use the extra space for a better battery. We don't want a paper-thin phone, we want a phone that will last all day under moderate to heavy use without needing several charges. Mobile phones are no longer "mobile" if we're chained to an electrical outlet most of the time.

Improving the patent system
I'd like to see a new law implemented in our patent system. Too many companies are buying patents with no intention of bringing a product that incorporates said patents to market. Their sole intention is to sue other companies that are providing jobs, products and services.
The new law would something similar to the following:
"If you acquire a patent from any entity you may not begin litigation regarding said patent until after you have produced, marketed and sold a product that incorporates said patent."
The patent trolls are stifling entrepreneurship and it needs to stop.

Blockbuster 1, Netflix 0
Blockbuster seems to be more interested in keeping customers than Netflix is. Yesterday I sent a polite complaint that none of the streaming movies at Blockbuster included subtitles or closed captions for the hearing impaired.

Why I'm boycotting Netflix
I'm hearing impaired so I need closed captions and/or subtitles in order to enjoy movies. I've been using Linux distros as my sole desktop operating systems since 2001 and Netflix isn't available for Linux. When I sign up for Netflix I am required to pay for the basic streaming service which I can't use because it's not available for Linux. I'm also required to pay for DVD's by mail so I can enjoy closed captions and/or subtitles. I'll consider joining Netflix when we can sign up for DVD's by mail and not be required to also pay for the streaming service.
It's sad that a company as large as Netflix doesn't provide accommodations for disabled persons.
